IRAQI BUSINESS CENTER

How to Register

The Iraqi Business Center (IBC) brings together the prime contractors involved in the reconstruction of Iraq and subcontracting companies. The center provides information and coordinates meetings of the prime contractors and subcontractors -- but it does not issue tenders and does not award tenders. These are functions of the prime contractors only. The center also facilitates the relationship between the companies issuing the tenders and the subcontractors by holding meetings and conducting interviews.

Registering on the IBC Web site

The IBC maintains a Web site, http://www.iraqibusinesscenter.org This has proved to be one of the most important means of clarifying the requirements and principal needs of the prime contractors and subcontractors.

To register your company on the IBC Web site, please use the following steps:

1. Type in the Web site address exactly as is shown above (no capital letters).

2. On the home page click on the icon labeled “Registration. for Iraqi Companies ”

You will see a brief paragraph advising you on how to register your company, then three prompt lines that you have to fill in, followed by the words “Next Page”:

User Name ___________

Confirmation of password _____________

Next Page

3. Type your e-mail address on the first line.

Type the password related to your e-mail in the second and third lines.

Click on Next Page.

You will see a series of questions (53 in all) that you have to answer to complete the registration process. Note that the questions with red asterisks must be answered. Questions without asterisks should also be answered, but if you do not have the specific information asked for, leave it blank and go on to the next item.

Note these three terms:

- DUNS – Is your company recorded with the U.S. firm (Dun & Bradstreet) that certifies business experience and capabilities?

- Aliases – Has your company ever operated under another name?

- SIC – Standard Industrial Classification. Which technical fields can your company work in as defined by this system of international technical specifications?

When you complete all of the steps noted above, your company will be registered on the IBC Web site.

How to Find Tenders

One of IBC's main services is the announcement on the Web site of tenders issued by the prime contractors.

To view the tenders, follow these three steps:.

1. Type in the Web site name (http:/www.iraqibusinesscenter.com).

2. On the home page you will see the term “Tenders.”

Click on Tenders. All the current tenders available will appear. (At this time, we have only Coalition tenders.)

3. Examine the tenders one by one and choose only those suitable to your company. Then provide your company information and send it to the contractor that issued the tender.

The address of the contractor is listed on each tender. You can deliver the information for CPA and KBR tenders either via e-mail or by dropping the papers in the box at the IBC counter.

If you want to ask specific questions about tender awards, please address them to the companies that issued the tenders.
